Recommended by a fellow researcher who I now discover is a 'veteran' chatter. Great site wish I'd found it sooner. Dave

Someone named Ann who kept posting all over Rootsweb and British-Genealogy (the forum for Archives CD Books). I figured I would check it out.

I happened to be talking to another researcher on MSN, and he mentioned that he had put a couple of posts up on rootschat, and as I'm curious by nature,I decided to check it out, it's now listed in my favourites, and its now become an addiction, that I can't afford not to have. Not only is it a great site,it saves my sanity, knowing that others can have the same problems and rewards, with the click of a mouse.

I was bored with my ancestors after the first week of ancestry.com and didn't have the gump to order certificates from the UK to further my research (wither) ... so, I looked on other genealogy message boards for someone that I might help.
Well, I found someone named Joe... and sent an email with some information. It turned out that I didn't help Joe... Instead, Joe helped me with a link to this site.
Now, I am never bored AND I have ordered many certificates! Thank you Joe!

I think it was through Google. I was getting very frustrated with my HUGHES in Llandudno research (10% of the town has that name!) and I think it Googled it's way to me exactly 1 year and 15 days ago.
Some folks on the OU Family History group had mentioned it but not taken to it but I hadn't got round to visiting.
I don't know when I'm up for parole?
