Hello It;s me again, Gertrude was born 1866 at Cheddar I know it says about 1862 but everything else seems to fit. Guess what, another sister has materealised this is Agnes, Gertrude's eldest sister and I think the reason why they all came out to Kenora was because of Agnes. Agnes was married to a William Henry Hawley and Agnes died 1894 and he died on April 23 1927., they are both buried in Kenora. On his daughters marriage certificate ( she married in the UK this was Sadie Agnes Hawley who married Herbert Lait) Wiiliam Henry Hawley's occupation is listed as being "Gentleman". Can you give me anymore information i.e. any other children ,where they lived, Wiiliam's occupation , How do I go about obtaining the death certificate's for all my ancestors who have died in Kenora, I hope you wont find this request an imposition. I am most grateful to you for all you have already done for me. Once again I am indebted to you Many Thanks Ken

Hello Ken
this family is elusive - there are a lot of Hawleys (some German, some English) in Ontario from the early 1800's and on but I cannot find any reference to William Henry, Agnes, or Sadie Hawley (or Howley, or Hawly, etc). They may have been in the USA or even England. They may also be in parts of Canada that are not indexed in Census reports yet. For example, there are also Hawleys in British Columbia where the Lait family ended up. Perhaps there is a connection there.
Anyway, it looks like you have found Agnes and William in Kenora's graveyard. Have you been able to find obits for them? That should list family members, possibly family origins, etc. If you can find someone to go look at their graves you may find that they are buried in a family plot (for example, my grandparents and great aunts are buried in an fenced in family area that also has the graves of my great grandparents and other family members). You may find some clues that way.
Did Agnes have a middle name that she may have used? Still pondering what other resources to check. If you have any other dates, etc let me know.
Good luck
Thelma

Hello Thelma. William Henry Hawley was interred on the 23rd April 1927 but Agnes died on April 13 1894 and both are buried in Kenora. I do not have any obits on either of them. I do not know if they married in Canada or England. At some stage they went to Minnesotta where Sadie Agnes was born 1880 or 1881, the only other information I have is that on the 1871 cenus for the `Uk Agnes was a nursemaid to the Tanner family of Cheddar and they had a number of servants . On the 1881 UK census the Tanner family of Cheddar have disappeared(have they come to Canada and Agnes travelled with them) On the 1891 Cenus for the UK it shows that Sadie Agnes Wilson is visiting her Aunt Amelia Wilson schoolmistress of Lower Basildon. Berkshire with her Grandparents Aaron and Sarah Wilson . Why was she in the Uk. Also the 1901 cenus shows Sadie to also be in the Uk and living with her Aunt Amelia at Upper Basildon Berkshire at the Schoolhouse her occupation is now shown as that of Teachers assistant. Sadie then marrries Lait in 1818. Can you tell me did Sadie and her husband come back to Canada and then return to the Uk in the late 1930's after the death of Lait's father in 1936.Was Sadie present at her fathers funeral inApril 1927? All I have really have is that William Henry Hawley died April 23 1927 and his buried with his wife who passed April 13th 1894.OH! the only other point I have is that on Sadies's marriage certificate to Lait, her father's occupation is described as "Gentleman" Hope you can put this one to bed Thelma.. But many , many, thanks for all your help you are an angel and I am really indebted to you, you have already solved a number of enigma's for me BLESS YOU
KEN
