Scott of Clapton
« on: Saturday 29 May 04 18:20 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to find out more information about my GGGrandparents their names were John Scott and Rebecca Scott there daughter my GGrandmother was Elizabeth Scott born 19 June 1857 her mothers maiden name looks like Newell, I have recently found Rebecca on the 1901 Census living with her daughter Emma Jones, on the 1881 Census I found her living with her son in Clapton she was born in Titchmarsh, I have been unable to find out John Scotts occupation also any information on their marriage or his death, if anyone could help I would be most grateful.

Thanks Judith Smiley

Hi Judith,

I am sorry your posting has remained unanswered for so long.

On the 1881 census and 1901 is Rebecca shown as married or widowed?

Kazza.

Sorry Kazza
I have only just seen this reply, she is widowed, I have also found out Elizabeth had a sister Emma, born 1855 hoping to send for her birth certificate, as on Elizabeths her Mothers maiden name is unclear so I have taken a guess at it being Newell.

Do you know if there is anyway of finding the family on the 1861 Census?
