Anybody have Wallingford parish records.
« on: Sunday 30 May 04 10:22 BST (UK) »

Can anybody please help with a marriage for a John Durbidge in Wallingford, I found one 1852 on 1837 online.

This family is proving to be very difficult.

I have him on 1841 census with parents John and Hannah aged 13.

Then nothing until 1871 in Horsham,Sussex. He was married to Emma (?) and had 7 children still living with him all born in various counties!

(My direct ancestor, his daughter Emma had married in 1870 in Nuthurst to William Foster.)

He died in 1873 in Nuthurst aged 47.

I really need some help and advice to find them in 1861, he had a child called Albert in c.1860 in Berks, but another called Joseph c.1858 in Oxf.

I found an IGI entry for a Joseph in Goring and thought a marriage there in c.1850 would be his. But I also found another John Durbridge b. in Goring so although the child could be his the marriage may not.

I have searched through 1843/52 for a marriage on 1837 online and only found one in 1852 Wallingford. This I'm dubious with as Emma was 22 on her marriage cert. in 1870. I realise people didn't always marry before having children.

Any help gratefully received, as I'm beginning to pull my hair out!!
