Hi Brenda H,
I think this is your Rhonda taken from the 1851 census.
address, Ram Alley, Totnes Census place, Brixham,Devonshire Pro ref HO/107/1873 Folio 278 page 17
Rhoda DUNN, wife, head, M, 24, F, Mariner's wife, born Brixham,Devonshire.
William, son, 4, M, born Brixham, Devonshire George C, son, 1, M, born Brixham, Devonshire.
From that I deduce that Willam Snr was at sea.
There are quite a lot of CORNHILLS in DEVONSHIRE that were born in Brixham.
If you care to give me some names & dates I'll check up on them for you.
Cheers Geoff

My branch of the Dunn family has several William's in the line, and your William may well be one of them. They were fond of keeping the names in the family so practically every family in each generation had at least one William, an Edward, an Edwin, a Charles etc., and even more if each child had children which gets quite confusing!!
The surname spelling differs in the documentation for the same people (Dun, Dunn and Dunne) and although many Dunn's are located in the Clayhanger area, there were also Dunn's in Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Wales and Devon.
I'm currently tracing the Edward Dunn's, the eldest of whom is possibly your William's brother or father. Haven't filled in all the gaps yet, but will be happy to post info when I do.
