Amazing success - but what now?
« on: Monday 11 April 05 13:15 UTC (UK) »

First I want to crow about my success in researching a friend's tree, in a remarkably short time.  She started by wanting to know about her father's family, and now has named ancestors going back to the end of the 16th century.  There was a lot of luck involved.  That part of Lincolnshire is very well covered by the IGI; and I found no less than 3 people on genesreunited who were distantly related to my friend and could supply more information.  From one I've even had transcriptions of 4 wills, all the way from Australia.
But now what do I do?  I can't do any more research without travelling to local records, which is out.  And I feel like an addict without a fix.  There are no more certificates to be eagerly awaited, no more scouring of censuses, no more running off of tree charts.  I feel forlorn and deprived.

How about looking up John Jones born 1819 in Tynywern, Cardiganshire.   After that I have more John Joneses and an Ann and Mary Jones or 2.   Easier than that Red Room.

Okay, okay.  I think I've persuaded another elderly friend that she really wants her family history investigating.
