Re last Post: They're at 35 (not 33) Seventh Road... just the same address as Lacie has found in 1901.

Hi sandyx

The birth certificate of Eliza will tell you who her parents are.

Freebmd's can be searched.  click on the page number and the other peoply on the page will come up.

There is and entry in 1875 of a William JOB possible spouse Sarah JOBSON.

Cheers

Right.
Though if she seems likely to be William's (first?) spouse, she may not be your grandmother's mother. Remember in 1901 there was a different mother listed. I have checked the 1881 Census (free to search at www.familysearch.org) and the family was living at Houghton Le Spring. Wife was Sarah.
On freebmd there is a death for a Sarah Job aged 36 in Sep 1892 in Morpeth Registration District. If she is the Sarah we are looking for, then you'd have to search for a second marriage between William and a Mary Ann (on 1901, wife actually says Mary Ann) after Sep 1892.
As you seem to know when your grandmother was born, the most efficient way of knowing her mother's maiden name is to order the birth certificate, as Gennig suggested.

As for the Leary family, there is a brother in law in the household... chances are high for Dorothy's maiden name to be Ford...

There's a marriage of William JOB and Mary A GEE at Benwell, in 1895, shown on

http://www.newcastle.gov.uk/msearch.nsf/msearch?openform

by searching the decade 1891 - 1900

A bit far south though?
