TAYLOR marriage
« on: Saturday 16 April 05 13:00 BST (UK) »

I have been searching in vain for the marriage of DANIEL TAYLOR (b.1840, Green of Murirton, Inverness) and MARY (surname unknown, although 1881 census says born in Aberdeen).

Their daughter Ellen Jane was born in Aberdeen in 1866 (calculated from later censuses) but I have been unable to find any birth record for her either.

Any ideas?Huh
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Gill.

Try searching for Donald TAYLOR. I've found Donald and Daniel to be interchangable forenames.

There's Donald TAYLOR and Mary Ann SCOTT married 15 Apr 1865 Saint Nicholas, Aberdeen, Aberdeen Sh., Scotland.

They also have a daughter, Janet TAYLOR, born 17 Feb 1867 Saint Nicholas, Aberdeen, Aberdeen Sh., Scotland, which could be Ellen Jane.

Also, I've found that Daniel can also be mistakenly indexed as David.

Hi
thanks for responding to the query.
I think that Daniel is the Donald marrying Mary Ann Scott in Aberdeen as all the other details of their children fit in with what I have already.
This has been a big leap forward in the research, thanks for your help.

Hi not sure if we are searching the same family. I have a Donald Taylor who marries a Jane Austin  5 March 1833 they were residing in Green of Muirtown, ( I was actually trying to find the location of the Green of Muirtown in relation to Inverness when I found your message.) They had a daughter Helen born 1843 at the Green of Muirtown and she is my ancestor.  I think I have your Donald/Daniel as a sailor on the 1861 census and a witness to his sisters marriage in 1867 in Aberdeen.
