I am interested in the Woodford family of Boldre and Beaulieu. May main interest is to try to find out who the parents were of Joseph Woodford who married Mary Tanner at Boldre in 1827.
I believe that his father may have been born in Beaulieu but cannot make the link!!! If anyone else is interested in this family then I would be happy to share any info I may have.

Hi June, I am descended from the Boldre WOODFORDS. There was a Joseph born 1809 to Joseph and Ann nee INGRAM. I don't have a marriage for him. He may be too young to be your Joseph.

Hi
What line of Woodford are you from? Did they come from East Boldre, Beaulieu Rails?
It is possible it was Joseph who married Ann Ingram. I dont have an age for Joseph who married Ann Tanner in 1827. Their marriage did not state "with consent" so does that imply that Joseph was of full age I wonder.
I found a Joseph born in Beaulieu born in 1855, father Matthew Woodford, but that is the only other birth for a Joseph that I have found in either register. He would be too old to be the one married in 1809 but again I did not find a marriage around 1780+ where I thought it may have been!!!
The fact that they used the same names is an other confusing issue but I suppose that was par for the course then!!!
At Hampshire Record Office in the Quarter Sessions Records they had a Joseph Woodford, aged 49 of Boldre, in the period around 1822 who was imprisoned for a period of 3 months with hard labour for poaching and what appears to be the same one fined a whopping £100.00 for breaking the Revenue Laws....smuggling I suppose. The records also mentioned a Robert Woodford of Boldre in the same period, in his 20's, again imprisoned twice for poaching and fined £100.00 for breaking the Revenue Laws.

All the Boldre WOODFORDS seem to be descended from Matthew of Beaulieu.

Hi there
My GGGGG Grandfather was Mathew Woodford of Beaulieu Rails, and later Boldre. He was son of John Woodford and Anne Harris and was born in 1775, married Frances Hillier on 4th November 1799 at Beaulieu Abbey. They had six children and were listed in Comyns New Forest as living with the mother in law in 1811. Mathew died on 24 June 1845 at Norley. Frances died 3 June 1827. There were two other Mathews within a close area of our Mathew at the time. However in Parish records theirs are spelt differently with a double "t" in their name. Other children of John and Anne were William, John and Mary. Joseph Woodford appears to pop up and lives very close to them, and I am looking into the possibility that he came from Ringwood as the New Forest Proceedings say Mathew and John came to the forest some fifty years prior so it would seem they weren't local. So far I have drawn a blank as far as Anne Harris marrying John Woodford. The only reason I know this is so is due to Comyn's New Forest and parish records saying that John, Mathew, William and Marys parents were John and Anne.
Our Mathews brother John married an Elizabeth Gregory.
The only other Woodfords I have found to date are Joseph Woodford and Robert Woodford. Again they appear to have ties to Ringwood.
If anyone has any ideas on where Anne Harris may have come from I would appreciate any ideas!
Thanks Emma

I am likely going to derail this discussion, but this is one of the only references I can find to WOODFORD in Hampshire, so please excuse my butting in!
I recently unearthed (so to speak!) a WOODFORD ancestor b. circa 1804 Isle of Wight: Jane Way WOODFORD. She married my ggg gf Henry Preston WILLS in Southampton in 1826 according to IGI. I have no idea when they met, whether she was born in Carisbrook as H P W was.
Please note: I am geographically challenged and have NO idea of the proximity of Isle of Wight to Boldre and Beaulieu and excuse me if I am miles out here, but I am stuck for ideas on how to find her.
Regards from Canada. Lindsay
