Hi everyone, please pardon the silly questions:
Is 'Salop Woodhouse Fields' an actual place... or did the enumerator just record a birth 'in a wood house in a field'?
May I ask if Woodhouse Fields, Blue Hall and Broncroft Park (Much Wenlock, Madeley & Holdgate are mentioned.) might still exist and where to locate on a map and/or on-line?
Thanks for your time, Duck
(Edited to include Blue Hall in the subject line.)

Hi Duck
Woodhouse Fields - about 2 ½ miles SW of Much Wenlock as the crow flies. There are a number of map sites, but you could try multimap.com
Go to multimap and input TF13 6QE into the GB place or postcode area on the left-hand side and click ‘Find’. At the top of the resulting map choose the 1:25,000 scale; Woodhouse fields is SE of Bourton.
Broncroft Park – about 1 miles SE of Munslow as the crow flies.
Go to multimap and input Munslow. Choose the 1:25,000 scale and Broncroft Park(s) is SE of Munslow.
Afraid I can’t help you with Blue Hall, but I’m sure some kind soul on here will be able to.
Regards John

Hi
Interesting Will - can be a small world sometimes.
Thanks for reminding me about this question, just to let people know that Blue Hall was found just SE of Holdgate.
John

Thank you for your reply, Will!
Thank you again, John! (Especially for clearing up my Blue Hall question and other stuff.)
What do I dare ask Will now?
My grandfather, Ernest JAMES [Thomas, Martha LAWLEY] was born 1883 @ Woodhouse Fields. My mother has only known the name of her father's birth place (but I have found the census and other info). We (Mom & family) do not know if Woodhouse Fields is a village or a building or...? Would there be a picture to see online?
Thank you so much for your time, Donna
P.S. Hi again, my dear Joe! Nope...farmin' hasn't slowed down...but she's a rainy day today.

Woodhouse fields is a farmstead. My Grandfather moved to the farm in the 1960s and I will be the third generation Benbow (our surname) to farm it. The farm was previuosly part of Bourton estate, but my grandfather purchased it in 1979. There are many old buildings surrounding the house which would have been pretty much unchanged from your relatives era. I can perhaps get a photo to you tomorrow of the house and buildings.

Oh Will!
A photo would be beyond my wildest dreams! I would be deeply grateful for your kind gesture. My mother is 90 years old and has never seen her father's birth place. You can imagine how special it would be for her, too.
I can send you a PM with my email address, if you would find it easier.
Warm regards, Donna

Hi Donna
Wow, things are certainly progressing on your research.
It’s been a long while since I’ve been there, but for Blue Hall to be marked with the cross, then I suggest this picture was taken just south of Holdgate; perhaps in the vicinity of Castlemoor? What a place to stick a tree, I ask you!
Just working off a map, I would expect a building or two of Lower Earnstrey Park Farm to be visible near the top of the ridge in the foreground, but I can’t make any out I’m afraid.
I'm sure Will can provide a better answer to your question.
All the best John
