Can anyone help?
I am looking for any information or pictures, Old or Modern, about the White Horse(PUB), in Needingworth. The reason in the interest is that my great grandmother was born there in 1885 and from her birth certificate her father was the publican of this pub, at this time. His name was William Bright.
If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.
Thanks.

Your Great Grandmother's name? Which wife of William Bright? Rebecca or Lissie? I never heard anything about the White Horse (PUB) if this is the same William Bright b. 1844-46. What's the story? Your Pen name on the forum matches other chats I have had with you regarding William. Is this the same William? LJ-

One more thing I just remembered. The 1881 Census while William Bright was a widow and not yet married to Lissie and the children of Rebecca lived there says their dwelling is: WHITE HOUSE ON HIGH STREET Could you have read a type error in some information? HORSE HOUSE?? It would make more sense she was born at the White House and not a PUB?? LJ--

Looking at the image of the census page I would have transcribed the word as Horse, not House.
But William is not described as publican, ale house keeper or anything similar. Perhaps his late wife ran the pub while he delivered coal.
Plenty of kids were born in pubs, which were often nothing more than a bar in someone's front room!

Hi,
The William Bright mentioned is indeed the same one as in other chats mentioned. My great grandmother was Olive Berenice Bentley Bright b.1885 Needingworth and her mother was Lizzie Bright nee. Bentley.
The reason I was asking about the White Horse, was because this is the place of Olive's birth, which is stated on her birth certificate. Her father's occupation is stated as Farmer and Publican. Therefore thinking the White Horse was a Pub.
Hope this helps.

Hi Cottingham By googling about I found this bit of info about Needingworth
In both Needingworth and Holywell there were originally many public houses including the White Horse and the Three Horseshoes. The Queens Head now remains alone in the Needingworth High Street and is a popular meeting place.
