Hi Rootschatters
This is the only Photograph of my Nana and Grandad of which i own..I know its badly Faded but i was wondering if someone could try and Improve it a bit more for me..?
Any Help Would be Most apprecated

H Ira,
What you need to do is rescan the photo to a much larger size to really have any chance of a good result. I did a quick fix, but as the photo is so small it's hard to see any detail. See link below on scanning if you are not sure how to scan a photo.

OK, this photo Is a real challenge. I'm afraid what Keith and I have done is probably the best you will get. As the facial details are blurred, it's hard to make out to much. Also the outline of the man is non-existant so it would be a complete guess as to his posture. You could attempt to cut the background out and replace it with a studio backdrop, but this would amplify the two figures inadequacies.
I hope this helps in some small way.

Thanx so much for Your Efforts.. I had a feeling in may have been to bad to Fix .. But your efforts have made it better than it Was.. What Caurses a Photo to go Like This ? Sunlight? Its so sad as well Because it the only 1 i have of my nanna and grandad

Paint Shop Pro 9 - and a bit of poetic license
The man seems to be leaning so darkened them areas of the shoulders, darkened hair line and pasted back onto original background.

You can check PSP 9 here http://tinyurl.com/9svhb you should be able to download a demo, but if you haven't got broadband, I find most of the company's will mail you a demo for a nominal cost. One word of warning though once you get started in digital graphics, it's hard to stop

It just gets better this restoration lark the colour has added a new dimension to the picture, to me this photo was more mess than picture, so I just took the important bits and stuck them together. The man must have had shoulders and not just a head & neck hanging in the air  so to add shoulders was a natural thing to do (I think) the poetic license came in around the heads in hair style. Again this photo has taken me a bit further around the learning curve.

It is right what deadants says " One word of warning though once you get started in digital graphics, it's hard to stop ". I should be out looking for a job and not playing with graphics software, so my wife says anyway.

Many thanx to Yourself and Deadants For Fixing my Photo..It was a bit of a mess but sadly the only one i have
And i Do agree with You both it is addictive.. I downloaded Myself the Trail Version of Paint Shop Pro 9 (60 day Trail ) But its going to be Expensive when the Trial Runs Out  )
Also i Got myself a Graphics Tablet From Argos for £29.00
So hopefully i will get the hang of it and be able to have a go to

Hi Iria,
Just a thought, but it seems that there is a third person in your photo,standing between your Grandparents.It looks to me like your Grandfather has his left arm around their shoulders,you can just about see the person in the middle,then again,I might be seeing things
