Cronin family of Kilfeighny
« on: Sunday 08 November 09 14:36 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for information on Timothy and Julia Cronin's family who lived in Ballygarret on the 1911 Census. They had 5 Children one of which I believe to be my Grandmother Catherine. Others were Patrick ,Michael, Mary and Julia.

I would be very interested to know if Mary and Julia were ever married.

Hi hard from a online research point of view to answer about Mary and Julia marrying might be better asking relatives or trying contacting people in the area who may have known this family.

I did however find the following not sure how much you know of this

Timothy Cronin married Julia Stack in 1868
Registration District: Listowel
Year: 1868
Volume 5 Page 601 or Volume 5 Page 599

For some reason it is listed on both Page 601 and 599 not sure why. You can order marriage records from www.groireland.ie.

I also found the following children.

John Cronin
26-Nov-1868 Parents: Timothy Cronin and Julia Stack Co.Kerry

Patrick Cronin
10-Nov-1870 Parents: Timothy Cronin and Julia Stack Co.Kerry

Maurice Cronin
17-Dec-1872 Parents: Timothy Cronin and Julia Stack Co.Kerry

Michael Cronin
21-Apr-1877 Parents: Timothy Cronin and Julia Stack Ballygarrett, Co.Kerry

Julia Cronin
22-May-1878 Parents: Timothy Cronin and Julia Stack Ballygarrett, Co.Kerry

In Griffiths Valuation taken around 1852 for Co.Kerry for the townland of Ballygarret there is two Stack families with heads of households being Patrick and Maurice. Does not appear to be any Cronin familiy. So perhaps Timothy Cronin married into the Stack farm. And either Patrick or Maurice are Julia Stack's fathers. Here is a link for Griffiths you can see original page by clicking on original page icon.

Griffiths Valuation Ballygarret

There is also another Cronin family in 1911 Census in the townland and it appears that this family comes from the couple Cornelius Cronin & Margaret Stack. Found the following children for them

Patrick Cronin 18-Oct-1867
Maurice Cronin 25-Nov-1868
Mary Cronin 30-Aug-1871
Cornelius Cronin 12-Apr-1873
Daniel Cronin 29-Jun-1876
Catherine Cronin 4-Feb-1879

Thank you very much for your help Gerard.

I am slightly confussed now to find 7 children from Timothy and Julia, only 5 were entered on 1911 census. Could there have been 2 Timothy and Julia Stack's married in the same year and area. I will have to order some certificates.

Kind regards
