Hi
Here is the 1871 census for a William and Jane Upton, there are two grandchildren with them with the name Seby.

William Upton, age 63, carpenter born Shenington
Jane Upton, age 54 born Alkerton
Henry Upton, son, age 26, ag lab, born Shenington
William Upton, son, age 18, groom born Shenington
Charles Upton, son, age 15, ag lab born Shenington
Arthur Upton, son, age 13, ag lab born Shenington
Richard Upton, son, age 10, scholar born Shenington
Ellen Seby, grandaughter, age 6, scholar born Northamptonshire Northampton
Caroline Seby, grandaughter, age 4, scholar born Northampton

RG10/1461
ed 1 folio 37 page 19
civil parish of Shenington

I will take a look for the Seby's they may well be in Northampton as the girls were born there.

Hi Nicky,

Thanks for helping me out, l have Richard on the 1891, Ellen died at the age of 9, the spelling should be Seaby not Seby. l was hoping to find Sarah on a earlier census because l cannot find her marriage to Richard, was hoping for a parish entry. Richard was born Northampton and they lived there after the marriage. l have only just found out Sarah maiden name.

Hi

I hope you still want this - Uptons in Shenington in 1861 - no Sarah though

William Upton abt 1808  Shenington, Oxfordshire, England Head
Jane Upton abt 1816  Alkerton, Oxfordshire, England Wife
Charles Upton abt 1856  Shenington, Oxfordshire, England Son
Edward Upton abt 1859  Shenington, Oxfordshire, England Son
George Upton abt 1847  Shenington, Oxfordshire, England Son
Hannah Upton abt 1850  Shenington, Oxfordshire, England Daughter
Henry Upton abt 1845  Shenington, Oxfordshire, England Son
William Upton abt 1852  Shenington, Oxfordshire, England Son

However she is there in 1851 - and this gives a slightly different date of birth

HO 107/1733 Fo 367 - Shenington

UPTON
William H M 43 Carpenter
Jane W M 32
Elen 11
Sarah 10
Henry 7
George 5
Hannah 2

- I think this is Sarah in 1861 - Northampton St Sepulchre  Northamptonshire

Ann East abt 1829  Ratley, Warwickshire, England Head
Thomas Aldridge abt 1832  Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England Lodger
Caroline Brown abt 1816  Lamington, Gloucestershire, England Sister-in-law
Susan Clark abt 1845  Weston Favel, Northamptonshire, England Servant
Sarah Upton abt 1840  Shenington, Gloucestershire, England Servant

So its looks as though the marriage is going to be in Northamptonshire

Hope it helps

Hi,

Just to add a potential new bit of info, could this be the marriage of Sarah's parents?

William Upton of Shennington married Jane Gentle in Alkerton 3 November 1836.

This was the only entry for a William Upton and Jane from the Oxfordshire Marriage Index which only goes upto 1837.

Regards
