Mistry

I think That your Great Grand father John Langan might be the younger brother of my Great Grandfather Martin Langan.  The parents of John and Martin were Patrick Langan and Mary Flannery.  Martin was born in 1860 in Newtown .  He married a Brigdet Naughton  in 1887 and had about 12 children.  The youngest Michael was my grandfather and he was born on Newantrium Street.  Soemthing happend to Martin and Bridget that I haven't figured out yet and the two youngest children were sent to Glasgow..  After that point there was not much contact between the Langans in Mayo and the ones in Glasgow.

Please let me know if you think this is a connection.

Thanks

Hello,
My Grandpa James Langan was from Castlebar, Mayo, born about 1908-1912.
He was one of about 3 brothers, one of whom was Peter. May have been a sister (Betty) also.

I think the brothers went to London and became publicans - my Grandpa James (Jimmy) ran a pub in London but died of TB about 1938 aged 30.

He had two infant sons, Paddy and Michael but we lost contact with the Langans after my nan married again and her new hubby adopted the boys.

1901 Census - Leitrim Roscommon site (has a good part of Mayo on it)
Castlebar Town- Poorhouse Hill
John Langan - labourer 30 yrs
Mary Langan 28 yrs
Patrick 6 yrs
Maggie 5 yrs
John 4 yrs
James 1 yr
Castlebar has a website with a searching for roots section- you might try that.
