William Roy
« on: Wednesday 20 April 05 19:55 BST (UK) »

I am trying to trace the parents of William Roy born abt 1851 in Saltcoats. Would there be any census that he would be listed on as a child. I have him in the 1881 census as still living in Saltcoats.

Thanks

Hopefully this will reach you after so long.

I don't know if it of any use to you my great-grandfather Patrick MURRAY rescued from drowning at Saltcoats Harbour during mid-September 1900 a William ROY, son of Edward ROY (dynamite worker - would have been employed at Alfred Nobel's Stevenston factory). William was aged approx 11 years (b. circa 1889) and a younger brother was also present.

I understand from postings on other websites that you are interested in Quay Street. In the 1905-1906 Valuation Roll of Quay Street, Saltcoats, there is listed at 16 Quay Street, Saltcoats a Grace
