Thanks to both of you
Amelia Houghton(nee Muckle) was born 21-5-1815, St Giles Cripplegate, London. I would assume William George Houghton was born around same/similar time. NB William George was allegedly known as George.
Muckles are a bit of a long shot. John Muckle was c 25-10-1786.
Joseph Brooks was b 1812 allegedly, Sarah(Ayers/Eyres) was b 1826 LOndon(?) and they came to Australia in 1853

Hi Garry Not much help to you I'm affraid. (1) Amelia Houghton, but she was 65 (1861 London census - not a complete census index yet) One William who was 51, born Pancras, Kentish Town, no-one else around the age group (mid 40's) (checked for George as well)
Muckle - there were 2 Johns - looks like Father and son? one 50 the other 17/ Pancras, Grays Inn Lane ref 106/90 Brooks had left for Aust before this census. Cheers, Sue

Hi Thanks Sue
That John Muckle could be a sibling of Amelia as I have her parents John and Catherine(nee Gardiner) married 1804, but the first child I could find was not born until 1813. seems odd, and would suggest that there were others I missed/not indexed
NB Catherine (Gardiner) Muckle I suspect died London 1840, and I have just ordered that certificate

Hi Sue and Chris.
As I mentioned last time to you Chris, my understanding of my Houghton family went out the window recently. It was sent into a tail spin after receiving the death certificates of William George Houghton and Amelia Houghton !!
William George Houghton left England abt 1853(just after daughter Ellen's prob 1851 birth) and 'remarried' in Vic Australia 1853. He even had 4 further children. He and Amelia may therefore only be in 1851 Census, if anyone is able to do a lookup of this one(London probably). William George Houghton's place of birth on death certificate(for what it is worth) is Canterbury, Kent.
Amelia Houghton(b abt 1815)(nee Muckle) was left in London with 3 or 4 children, Mary Ann, William(died before 1880), Frederick and Ellen. When Ellen came to Aust in 1875, Amelia was with her then. Therefore Amelia and family may show up in Census's until 1871.
John Muckle died between writing his will in 1853 and his son's (executor) death in 1856(ie wasn't alive to execute Will that I got from PRO). He and children Mary, Susan and James are listed at 2 Monkwell Street, in the 1851 Census image that I now have.
