John, An 1853 marriage cert won't give you parents names, most you can expect from pre 1855 record, date of marriage, or date it was contracted; names of parties; place or parishes of residence. very rarely will you get name of witnesses

Hi Liz
Thank you for your reply. If nothing else the addresses would help as perhaps the families could be raised on the census.
Do you have this?
Regards
Robert

John, Were the family in Scotland in 1881? as I have'nt been able to locate them yet.
I found these on familysearch, some children of John and Jane.
1. CHRISTINA WILSON - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 25 DEC 1855 Coldstream, Berwick, Scotland 2. ELISABETH WILSON - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 16 AUG 1857 Coldstream, Berwick, Scotland 3. JOHN WILSON - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Birth: 03 MAY 1862 Coldstream, Berwick, Scotland 4. FANNY WILSON - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 29 OCT 1860 Coldstream, Berwick, Scotland
Chrstina's birth cert. of 1855 will give you her parents age and where they were born, but may be registered under the year 1856 as she was born on Christmas day. This would narrow it down on where to look for their births.

Hi Liz
First of all my name is Robert not John!!
The family moved to London in the mid 1860's and thence to Liverpool in the early 1870's. If there were addresses othe marriage entry I might then be able to identify the parents of John and Jane.
Regards
Robert

Robert, I guess you've seen both the 1871 and 1881 census for this family. 1881 census shows Jane Wilson as being born Morpeth, Northumberland about 1832.
This could be worth checking out. (found in familysearch)
Jane Walker born 24th mar 1832 Ch. King St. Independent, Morpeth, Northumberland
Parents George Walker and Mary Brodrick
You could try 'scotlandspeople' for the birth of John, born about 1832 according to 1881 census, in Coldstream.

This is the record of the first child of John and Jane:-
20 Jul 1854 WILSON MARY JANE
Father - JOHN WILSON Mother - JANE WALKER Frame Number - FR964 Parish - COLDSTREAM GRO data Number - 733/00 0004
Christinas Birth is on Scotlandspeople as follows:-
Christina Wilson born December 25th 1855 at 3 am to John Wilson aged 23 years (a master baker) and Jane Wilson nee Walker aged 23 years and she was born in Morpeth. and this was their second child.
since the Morpeth connection that Liz found it looks good to try and get a something from the Parish records..
and here is the record number for the marriage of John and Jane
15 Jun 1853 WILSON JOHN JANE WALKER Frame Number - FR1012 COLDSTREAM 733/00 0004
I have found the images from the parish records to be wonderful to look at if at times a little hard to read... but worthwhile getting
Sorry could not help more
Best wishes

Hi Mo
Thank you for that further information. As you can see it is stated at the time of the birth in 1855 John Wilson was aged 23. This would make his dob 1832, which is what has been giving me doubts of the birth in 1830. Hence I thought apparently mistakenly there may be parents recorded on the marriage certificate in 1853 to see if I had the correct John Wilson. I do not want to pay £6 to see one certificate when it may be of little value.
As for Jane Walker, I have picked her at Morpeth, but unfortunately no record of a marriage between George Walker and Mary Brodrick at this location or any other nearby on IGI. So all at a bit of a brick wall at present.
However thank you once again for the information which gave some detail I was not aware of.
Cheers
Robert
