"Show me the way to go home ..."
|
Be warned that this is from someone who wondered why I was always shown as being on line (because I had to be on line to see that) so I am perfectly prepared to have it pointed out to me (very nicely, as ever) that I am being as thick as two planks. Anyway:
How come I can't actually post a GENERAL (eg) England message? If you click 'general' you just get the listing divided up into counties and I want to ask/tell something that is country but not county specific. (Same with Scotland and Ireland, etc.)
Just as an example, I raised a query about the RFC under Sussex, because that's where the information I had seemed to point. After further investigation (and paying for a bit of help) I have just received in the mail a photocopy of a complete service record, which I thought would be interesting to share generally in a broad sense, vis a vis information given, how I got it etc, which I hope would be of broader interest than just Sussex or Armed Forces readers.
The only place to go seems to be here in the Common Room, but it's not really 'lighter side' stuff (nor any of the other categories). While it is not breathtaking stuff, SOMEBODY might find it useful (and never actually find it by looking up specific categories)!
More importantly, how do all you guys get those cool (moving, even) graphics on your profiles/postings?
Love RootsChat. Might have to make it my home page.
Ros

As Falkyrn says the posts are at the bottom of the loooonnng list of counties.
The mods will move posts if we think it will get better coverage on a more specifc board. The General boards aren't as busy and we just want to make sure you get an answer
All the best, Pam

Sorry just testing!
Thanks to some brilliantly clear instructions from Su I THINK I've posted a picture. This is me writing something just so I can see if it has worked!
For the record, this is my g-grandmother Mary Ann Anyon, born Liverpool 1859, died Feilding 1835. A great old girl, by all accounts!
Cheers,
Ros

In regards to the thread title, i think that the only stupid question is the one never asked.
