Hi Den
There could possibly be a connection. My - John and your - Patrick certainly married at around the same time and could  be related in some way.  I'm sure you have already discovered how hard it is to find out about irish decendants I'm just learning that lesson. However I'll keep trying and anything I find I will share
It may only be coincidence but they both had children named John,Tomas and Mary Ann(family names?)

Rhonda- did Peter Donnelly and Sarah McGuire live in Scotland? IGI lists 3 children to a couple with these names: Mary Ann 1870, Helen 1872, Peter 1874. If so, Scottish records might give clues as to the family in Ireland.

Hello greendoor,

There are three items you require when searching for Irish ancestors.

1. Denomination.
2. Parish.
3. Townland.

You'll have to rely on Church records as James seems to have been born in 1856 which was eight years prior to civil registration being introduced in Ireland. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

HI Denis,
I see that it has been many years since you posted here looking for your McGuire Relatives descended from Patrick McGuire & Elizabeth Donnelly (From Leitrim, Ireland) who brought up their large family in Edinburgh , Scotland...  I came across your posting today and i am DEF one of your McGuire Relatives... I am the great Grand daughter of Thomas McGuire b.1864 to Patrick & Elizabeth McGuire. I have some wonderful photographs of Thomas as an adult and father & Grandfather. I have been in touch with another descendant of this family on genesreuntied. If you are a member of that site please let me know and i could share access to my full family tree on there.BUt do get in touch anyway.

Kindest Regards

This seems too much of a coincidence but my GGg Granny was Mary McGuire bn 1833, from Cloone and her parents were a Patrick McGuire and Ann Donnelly. Like a lot of people at the time they also came across to Scotland, do you think they are related to any of the ther McGuire/Donnelly partnerships?
