My great grandfather was William Webber supposedly born 1870 Derbyshire. He was married (aged 21) to Sarah Ann Dickins in Nothhampton Registry Office in 1890. On the 1891 census he was in Kettering and subsequently moved to Leicester, where the family stayed.
On his marriage certificate his fathers name is blank and I have not been able to find anything on him or my ancestors before his marriage.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I am in Australia.

Thanks for that - that is my great grandfather's family (my grand father is Alfred Webber), however what I can't find is anything about William Webber prior to his marriage in 1890 (no father's name on marriage certificate). He was supposedly born in Derbyshire about 1870 (according to census records) but I cannot find any record of his birth in Derbyshire between 1870 and 1872. I think he may have lied about his age and place of birth and could really be from around Northampton. I am currently tracking William Webbers in Northants from around that period.

I don't think that these are mine, but thanks for looking. I think it more likely he came from the Northampton or Kettering area.
I am presently trying to contact my fathers brother and sister who I believe are still alive to see if they know anything (havent seen them for 38 years!). In the meantime I am working on my wifes family from Dublin.
