Hi Eberg

The map at http://www.castlebar.ie/oldmaps.htm has a number of places which might be worth a look.  None look exactly like Gatheganny but some are a bit similar.

Best wishes

Hi eberg !

Have you got the Correct spelling ?  nothing comes up on Google.

If you don't already know:-

CASTLEBAR Town,
is in the county of MAYO,
in the Barrony of CARRA,
in the Parish of AGLISH
in the Union of CASTLEBAR.

Hi Eberg,

I'm not happy about that " Gath ".
I feel it should be " Rath " - as far as I know there is not a place in Ireland beginning with " Gath ".
I hope the sites below are of some assistance to you.
I have looked. I am not able to offer anything positive except I am 100% certain " Gath " is not correct.

Best Wishes,  Christopher

The village your talking about is Gertheganny.  Try that, my Dad is from right outside Castlebar and he always talks about gertheganny.
