Seeking Richard Hoe, born Nottingham ca1845, emigrated to USA and died in a car crash in ca1929.
HE is not in the UK 1881 census (that I can find) so I assume he emigrated before this date. Any idea how I might find him?
David.

Thank you - I did find Richard Howe of Iowa. The problem is that there are about 6 Richard How/Howe/Hoe's born in England around 1845, and any one of them could have emigrated to Iowa. Admittedly, my family has a strong railway engineer connection, but there is not enough for me to be sure that this is my Richard Hoe.
Thanks for the lookup anyway.

HI I found a Richard HOE on the 1920 US census, age 74, b england, c 1845. Does not name county. He had a wife, Elizabeth, age 64 (hard to read), b Wisconsin. Daughter Charlotte, 42, b Wisonsin and a stepson, John Bunecke, age 31 (also hard to read) in the household. If this is of interest, I'd be happy to send you more details. Found on 1920 census, Wisconsin, Milwaukee, ED 209, Roll T626-2002, Page 1B (and the following page) Let me know. Regards, Valerie

Thank you, Valerie, this could be him. Rumour has it that an elderly aunt has a press cutting relating to his road accident - she is looking for it.
If that comes from Milwaulkeee, we have hit the jackpot!
Once again, thanks for looking
David.
