Trying to find a Frances Preece, she may have married William Downs around 1806
I think she may have been born around 1775ish in the Diddlebury area.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

I’ve checked some old transcripts of Diddlebury P.R. and regret can find no trace of a baptism (1770-80) for a Frances Preece.

Checked also for marriages during the period 1800-12 and found the following:

5 Jul 1804 Edward Downes (Much Wenlock) x Ann Beddoes (Diddlebury)
Witnesses: Wm Beddoes & Sarah Beddoes

31 Jan 1811 William Downes x Mary Camel (both Diddlebury)
Witnesses: William Bluck & Ede. Downes

22 Jun 1812 Edward Downes x Sarah Whitefoot (Diddlebury)
Witnesses: Ede. Downes & John Morris
(It’s not clear what parish Edward comes from)

I know they aren’t William and Frances, but they may be useful at some point. Good luck with the search.

Regards
John

Hi John,

Thank-you so much for that info. You've even found a couple of extra people I didn't know about!!

I'm coming to the conclusion that Shropshire were very lax in their book keeping!!

Thanks once again

Hi Pip

Just joined.  Have you found Frances Preece yet?  I have a Frances Preece christened 12 Aug 1770 at Ditton Priors, but she married a Samuel Breakwell on 2 Feb 1795 at Ditton Priors.  She was the dau. of Francis Preece and Anne Moore of Monk Hopton.  Info found on LDS site - there is an ancestral file with a downloadable gedcom.

Hi Pam,

Thanks for the reply, it looks like it was a wild goose chase.
The IGI is great but sometimes the info isn't always correct as I've found to my peril!!
but I guess thats all part of the fun (or is it??!!)

Thanks again
