Trying to find a map or location of Jubliee Cottage in Sandhurst in 1899 or earlier as relative was a mess waiter at Sandhurst Military College. Was wondering if the cottage was owned by SMC or private renting etc. Any help appreciated. The ancestors were called Nethercliff(E) or Netherclift Thanks John Rowley

I will have a look along the main road today to see if I can see the cottage, but much has changed in the area, there is a lot of new development, noticeably the shopping complex of Tesco and Marks & Spencer almost opposite the grounds of the RMA (Royal Military Academy). I saw a book for sale on ebay a few days ago "The history of Sandhurst" ( which I also have) has a few photographs of the RMA in, if you are interested, just a thought. Berkshire Record Office has a new publication CD of old maps - may be interesting If I can't find it, then next time I go to the record office I will look at the maps they have and see if I can trace it that way. Thanks for that Newbie. Just curious to know what the cottage looked like. May try and get the old maps on cd.

Hi John, I went to the record office on Friday, before your reply, the cd doesn't have the maps in small enough detail, I asked the archivist. I also checked some of the old maps they have, some are quite detailed dating back to 1880's but still no mention of houses, need to find some idea of location first, do you have the address from the 1901 census? that will give me enough info I think, I don't mind taking a photo for you and emailing it. if you want a copy of the map I will get the details for you, they cost 50p and the one I looked at showed the RMA in a lot of detail. newbie
