Hackness Parish Records
« on: Thursday 04 June 09 21:56 UTC (UK) »

Can you please help,   I have a notice of marriage from family search/org  for an ancestor Thomas Medd & Elizabeth Scott which happened 27th Oct. 1827.
Now I find in 1861 & 1851 census that Thomas is from Bickley, which is quite close to Hackness, but I can find no other trace for the hackness connection, is this the samefamily? or have I strayed somewhere?

Do you know where Elizabeth was from? Maybe Hackness was her parish and that is why they married there???

Hi Emma!

I've already pm-ed Fagash with the details from the Hackness registers, but it won't do any harm to post the details here too, viz ...

Oct 27 Thomas Medd & Elizabeth Scott botp B; by TI. Wit Mary Consit, James Medd.

So, that's Thomas Medd and Elizabeth Scott, both of this parish (ie Hackness) married by Thomas Irvine, Curate, and after 1822, Minister.
Witnessed by Mary Consit and James Medd (presumably a brother or father of the groom)

Not sure what the 'B' is for, but quite clearly Elizabeth WAS from the Hackness parish.
