Anyone looking for a challenge?!
« on: Wednesday 11 May 05 21:50 BST (UK) »

Hi

Can anyone help get any further with my GGG grandfather please?!

The details that i have are as follows: Thomas Pellowe born 1821 St Gluvias, Cornwall.  Married 3rd May 1846 to Araminta Dunstone from Mabe born 1823 to William and Sarah.

Can follow his married life with Araminta upto 1881 then found a possible death for 1885 age 67 - he didnt appear in the 1891 census for the area and neither did Araminta who died in 1889.  So far so good.

Tried to follow it back and found him with the Thomas family in 1841 census (possibly the wife Catherine was his sister but no confirmation).  The only baptism i can find is one in St Gluvias for 1st May 1825 with parents as Joseph and Catherine Pellowe.  And thats where my trail stops.

The only marriage for a Jospeh and Catherine is Joseph Rawling Pellowe and Catherine Lawry for 14/05/1795 at Budock - they have four children listed at Budock Catherine, William, Joseph and Richard.  I just cant connect them.

Any help, inspirational thoughts or advice would be gratefully received!

Many thanks

Hi Chris

The IGI has a baptism for a Thomas Pellow, 24 Sept 1824 in Mabe, Cornwall, parents Thomas and Keturah.

Others with same parents:

Grace Peters Pellow, 6 July 1828
Matthias Pellow, 17 Apr 1831
Sussanah Pellow, 8 Feb 1835
William Henry Pellow,  21 Apr 1833
John Pellow, 18 Sept 1836

all at Mabe

Are these anything to do with your family?

cheers

Hi Paul

Thanks for looking but his father was definately Jospeh as this is on his marriage certificate.

I have come across the other family before but as yet have been unable to link them.

The fathers name might have been Thomas Joseph. Its very common for people to maybe use their middle names in some areas and the first name on other things.

In genealogy you cannot say "Definitely" while you dont have a BM & D for the same person.
