I have been lent this photo of a gggrandmother it's very faded and needs bringing back to life with some TLC, any help would be much appreciated.

Hello again,
If it is who I think it is (the person who lent it only thinks it's a gggrandmother) can anyone date it? That would help me nail it down

hi newbie

not like I am a profesional or anything but I went at the picture with blind faith that I could improve it - see what you think

if there is no picture it means I couldn't figure out how to attach it - I'm new at this too

Hi Newbie

Due to size of the posted photo it is very blocky, would love to work on high res version, pm me if you have it.

it's looking better already!, at least you can see her face now, the family resemblance to my grandmother is startling.

Hi newbie,
I was wondering what resolution you are scaning your photo. It has a lot of large pixelated areas.  If you could set your scans to 300dpi or better, that should fix the problem. Also you could try scanning it in greyscale and see how that works.

Well, try it at 300 dpi for starters. What program have you got for graphics, photos etc.
