Then I disabled my Norton Firewall and anti-virus and got through. Must be something to do with that.

Check this page for "your" error, and then let me know if it's something new.

Thanks for the feedback. If you notice that on one kind of listing, someone has no area or date, and then notice on another listing, that the same surname and RootsChatter does have an area or date, then it is an error, and I would like more details (please !) Otherwise, I think it is just that a lot of Chatters simply don't enter them -- see (and join in) the discussion on this thread !

Fab job ur doing for us all.
I've had the same trouble all day getting in and Sylviaann is right disabled my Norton Security and straight in !
Then I disabled my Norton Firewall and anti-virus and got through. Must be something to do with that.

Maybe not  I have had no problems and run all Norton Firewall and Anti-Virus etc.

I had a problem getting into SIT. I deleted temporary internet files and history (by using Intrenet Options tab) but that didn't solve it this time. Then I disabled my Norton firewall and then got in but enabled it straight away

Worked good for me! Entered some surnames and even sent a message from there.
I noticed, though, that there were some entries without placenames in the Comment section. Makes one hesitate about making contact!

I have just added to the SIT but had to disable my Norton Security first, I visit these pages regularly but this is the first time I have had any difficulty accessing them.
