Thank you for your reply and photo. My Grandad Alexander was the only boy out of four children though, he was the youngest born in 1912. We probably link family, next generation or two back!

Have a look at my message under Lanarkshire MCQUADE GLASGOW, some names may be familar to you? Do you know the parents of your father John MCQUADE? Quite a few MCQUADES I think in Glasgow, my Grandad's Grandad did have three boys born between 1879 and 1883 that I know of, one being called John the other Francis and then James who is my Granddad's Father.

Thank you again...ele.

Hi Kimberley

A PM stands for a 'private message'. You should see a notification coming up in a box on your screen that you have received a private message. If you look at the top centre tabs, you should see Welcome back..., You have xxx messages, x new. If you click on that, it takes you through to your inbox/outbox.

Kimberley, give me half an hour. Little one just threw smoked salmon pasta through to me from baby gate into the study, capers an all. Hubby and older one just got in from baseball. All a little crazy at this point, bare with me, I'll be back... Ele

Hi mikereid-uk

When was your John McQuade born?

The only John mcQuade I have so far in my family (besides my dad, not born in Scotland) was
John McQuade b. Blackfrairs Glasgow c1882. I have no further info. on him I'm afraid.

Parents to him were a James and Mary McQuade nee Boyle both born Glasgow Scotland.

My Granddad did grow up around the Gorbals so maybe a cousin???Uncle?

Happy searching. Ele

Hi McQuade.k,

Thanks. As far as I know my Grandad, Alexander McQuade born Glasgow 1912 only had two sons that I know of and a daughter all born England.

My McQuades dont go back to Ireland until the mid 1800s, Co Monaghan I think.

Keep searching, its frustrating but fun at this same time.

Maybe start with your Dads birth certificate then your Grandads. The certificates will hold information. If you try the beginners section you will find many a person who can be a great source of information.

Good luck. Ele
