Susan Kerr of Rothesay 1830
« on: Wednesday 04 May 05 04:11 UTC (UK) »

I have recently discovered Susan Kerr born in Rothesay around 1830 but do not know where she sits on my 'tree'. By 1858 she had married Edward Sandford in Manchester and was living in Liverpool. Could someone please look in the Parish register for her birth or the 1841 census where her parents and siblings may be found for me.
Many thanks,
Don

Don,

According to the information on FreeCEN about coverage, all of the 1841 Buteshire census is online so you can search yourself at:

Thanks she does appear in the census. Unfortunately she is in service by this time and I cannot find who her parents were. The answer as I see it is in the parish register which I do not have access to. If someone can help she should be there around 1830. Hope you can help.

Hello Don,

That was a long time between posts  Smiley

Susan's baptism won't necessarily be in the OPRs.  Many church registers haven't survived or haven't been indexed, and many many children weren't baptized, etc ...

I haven't found a baptism in the IGI (International Genealogical Index) at:
http://www.familysearch.org

You could search (searching is free) on the (pay per view) site ScotlandsPeople at:
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Do you have her marriage certificate?

What was the name and occupation of her father?

Regards,

Thanks - yes been busy on others. Don't have much on her she shows up in Liverpool married to a policeman, will try that way but searching the England BDM is not cheap and very time consuming.

Unfortunately there are no matches for a Susan Kerr born between 1825 and 1840 in Buteshire listed on Scotlands people ...... there are 125 females named Kerr born/baptised there during the same period

Perhaps the marriage certificate way is the best. Thanks
