Hours spent researching family history!
« on: Sunday 08 May 05 20:20 BST (UK) »

Just an interesting thought, how much time do we spend online researching family history?

I spent all my spare 3 days researching often up to 6 hours a day sometimes.  Shocked

Thoughts and comments welcome .....

Let voting commence!  Smiley

Hi
I honestly daren't count up the hours I spend doing family research, I think I'd even scare myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It always starts with the thought 'Oh, I have a few minutes to spare, I think I'll................................' and I'm still here hours later, with a layer of dust on the house!
OOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I always think I'll research MY family and update the records I've kept but... I'll just look at my messages first.  Then I'll look at Rootschat and....2 hours later I think I'd better clean this or clean that.

Then in the late afternoon I try again and the same thing happens.

It is difficult to say how long I'm researching my own family.

I am still trying to write up all the notes, sort out bits of paper and add names to this Gedcom thingy that I've had for over a year  Roll Eyes

Just like Sylviaann by the time I've checked my e.mails....oooo look a new post on the Sussex Board!, just nip over and see whats happening in the Common Room, maybe a peek at Occupations and Armed Forces and I may as well see whats going on on The Lighter side.... burnt spuds, soggy cabbage and the 'other half' asking when his dinner will be ready is now quite common in our house Roll Eyes

By the way after about 6 weeks or so the dust realy does'nt get any thicker  Grin

I don't know exactly, but the answer would have to be.....hours and hours and hours and hours!!! Grin

I usually switch the PC on when I get back from taking the children to school.  I check my emails, then go to Rootschat, which is lethal!!!! At the same time I log in to MSN Messenger and am still searching and chatting when it is time to go and pick the children up from school at 3.15pm!!!!!!!!! Grin Grin Grin

I usually get home from work, take off my coat, and just check my emails, then... some kind of force takes over and I find myself on Rootschat, but it's very difficult to concentrate when everyone insists on discussing what to eat!
When I do stop for dinner, I panic that one of my son's might finish first and beat me to the computer - I seem to eat a lot quicker these days.  Once back online, I'm there till bed time.  I daren't add up the hours.
