Is there any way of looking at electoral rolls online, do you know?

and if not, where might I look for information on residents in North London (St Pancras/Holborn area) for the 1930s?

Thanks very much!

Only current electoral rolls are online - and people can opt not to be on them.

I know - because I've seen them - that the electoral rolls for St. Pancras are at the Camden Archives, on the top floor of the library in Theobalds Road:

http://www.camden.gov.uk/ccm/content/contacts/council-contacts/libraries/contact-the-camden-local-studies-%26-archives-centre.en;jsessionid=ACC27DDF1F8B36745B2CEDA3382954EB.node2

Unless you have an address its impossible to find anyone though, as they are arranged by ward and then alphabetically by street.  They'll only list people eligible to vote and of course they don't give information about how people at the same address are related.

I agree with Jeuel - the best place to start would be the library for the local area, which you can find via the local council website.  If you live too far away to visit, they may be able to do a lookup to you.

Unfortunately, Camden local studies does not do look-ups

There may also be a copy on microfilm at the London Metropolitan Archives.

If you can post the address and the dates, you may be lucky in the fullness of time to find that a chatter is able to do the look-up for you.

I just had a good week looking at the Electoral rolls for London on Ancestry, after years of going to LMA, its amazing how much information you can gain from them.

I've just been on the A***y site looking at the electoral rolls for London.
I've got 3 queries, hope someone can clarify for me:
- what do the letters after the names mean? eg. R, O, Rw( wife?)
- who exactly was eligible to vote in 1932?
- is there any way of using the database to find out who was living at a certain address, going via house number + street, rather than accessing it via names?

R ,- Residence Qualification
O, - Occupation Qualification

At the LMA for address research , in Polling Districts, street by street, it takes a while.

You can download Electoral sheets

In 1932, people over the age of 21 were eligible to vote. I don't know whether prisoners had the vote then but they don't have it now.

As with all electoral register searches, you will need to know the parliamentary constituency and then the ward that the address is in. The streets are listed alphabetically within the ward and the streets are then numbered numerically, older registers have all the odds and then the evens. Some long streets can be in more than 1 ward.

It is quite time-consuming.
