BRIGGS 96th regiment Derbyshire

Thomas Briggs ch.1816c North Wingfield.
Enrolled 96th reg. of foot 9 October 1841.
Arrived Perth West. Australia as a guard in 1847.
Looking for parents names and marriage records.
The daughter is visiting UK in May and would like advice re where the parish records would be kept and possible cemetery localities.
Any help, assistance, advice would be appreciated.

This is Robin in West Oz, thank you for replying to Sylvviann, she had originally answered my request for information on the parents.
That was the Thomas Briggs who married Catherine Caporn. What a fizz tho' - no parents listed. Where did you find this please?

    The 96th Regiment of Foot has a long and illustrious history. From 1839 to 1841, the 96th Regiment acted as convict guards at several locations around Australia. The Regiment were known as the "Bend Overs" and their uniform had Buff facings and braided gold lace. The Regiment was broken up into 26 separate detachments upon arrival in the colonies from 1839
