Hi,
My Richard Vickers was born in Sulgrave in about 1812 and I imagine that he is related to Thomas Vickers....maybe a brother?

Richard Vickers married Catherine Shaw and they had 9 children. They moved from Sulgrave to Warwick and then on to Birmingham where my great grandmother, Catherine Vickers was born in 1853.

I have been unable to find parents for Richard.

Hello wozzle, Indiapaleale and ansyre

I am at the moment processing the list of gravestones in Sulgrave churchyard which we hope to put onto the village website.  The ultimate aim is to have a genealogy section, as with the increased interest in family history, we are getting more and more requests for info re past residents.

I haven't yet checked the actual graves against the info collected circa 1997, but I did check the only VICKERS grave in Sulgrave.

Martha Vickers
died April 21st 1905
in her 72nd year
also of
Charles Vickers
husband of above
died 1869

This stone is in the perimeter wall in the north-east sector of the churchyard.

Regards
Jamys

Hi Jamys,

Thank you for the Vickers grave information. I didn't recognize the names as part of my Vickers clan, so I checked them out on Ancestry. It seems that Charles Vickers is not part of our lot ....well ...I haven't found a connection!

Charles was born in Cheshire and his wife was Martha Sibley. I believe they were married in Cheshire. Now, Martha WAS born in Sulgrave and she came from a large family. She had at least 2 small children when her husband died.

I do hope you can find some more Vickers as I know several of them didn't venture far from Sulgrave.

By the way...I see you have Hands....... Grin
Me too....piles of them in Brum and they are a mess to figure out.  Tongue

Cheers

Hello India

I'm afraid that's the only Vickers stone on the list.  Unfortunately there are quite a few illegible stones.  Also sorry to say that there are no Sibley stones on the list.

At some point soon I hope to be able to check the burial book, so don't give up yet and watch this space.
