I have a bit of a brick wall with the following couple.

John SCOTT born Minnigaff, 1811. Died pre 1881
Jane CHRISTIAN born Glasserton 1817.
This couple married 2nd April 1843, Penninghame
I have a list of 8 children from this marriage.
I have checked 1861, 1851, 1881 census for this couple. I would like to find out about them before their marriage.
Can anyone help me with this.
Jane was widowed on 1881 census and living alone so i know John died sometime before this!
