Haydon - there is just not enough information here to make a start  Shocked

Do you have either of them in later census?  Or any children ?  Do you know where James was from or how old he was ?

I can't see a Sarah and James Gillgrass on the 1871 - need a bit more - please  Grin

James was born wokingham 1829 on 1841census. 1861 is in aberdare.with first wife Sarah colton .1871 he is in aberdare it says he is married but no name of wife. he married Sarah scrivener 1864 wokingham.i am trying to see if Sarah scrivener is from that area.thanks for reply  haydon

Haydon - hello again

I have looked for a Sarah Scrivener (and variations) in 1841, 1851 and 1861 census and cannot find one born Berkshire, nor living in Berkshire, of the right age.

I see from your previous threads that she was  aged 35 in 1864, so born about 1829-ish and that her father was Richard. (taken from marriage certificate)

I cannot find a Richard Scrivener (and variations) in Berkshire in any of those censuses either.

Of course, this does not mean that she didn't come from that area - census information is not 100% accurate.  However, I can find no suggestion on any census that she did come from Bershire.
