Anybody researching Shaws from Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire England 1830 - 1860's?
« on: Wednesday 11 May 05 18:12 BST (UK) »

Am looking for somebody who has connections to a George Shaw who married Eliza Forester Wood in 1856. George's father was William Shaw on the marriage certificate, don't know who the mother is. Need a connection to someone who has them in their research too. please help!

Thanks,
Lauren

Hi Lauren
Do you have any other details for these people? Does the census give George's date and place of birth?
I've got a few Shaws in the Matlock area but not yours. I think it is quite a common name.

Modified: Ok, found your other post, just ignore me Wink

Hi Lauren,

What was father William's occupation on the marriage cert.?

The only baptism on the Notts FHS that fits the timescale is George to William and Elizabeth at Nottingham St Mary's 16/02/1835. Here father's occupation is given as tailor.

Obviously we need to tread carefully here as Shaw was an incredibly common name in those parts!
