 Cheesy Hey Girls,
Sorry to butt in here, any chance my Norris's came over on the same boat.
Only they lived in Steeple Claydon as well.

Hi lesanne,  In 1863, 31 Norris' travelled  --  11 were English, rest were US, Bulgarian, Irish, Scotish....at lest in the data base.

None were on "Australia"

Names with Origins in England for 1863 were:

Amelia
Charlotte
Ellen
H.  (Male)
J.B. (male
Jos (male)
M. (female)
Magt. (female)
Mary
Mary
Norwood

Any of the above fit and need further research??

If you want a differene year checked and specific names/ages, let me know.... I will do it!

 Cheesy Hi Kathy,
                Thanks for your offer.
Annie has helped tremendously with my search for
Andrew Albert Norris, b 1852 Islip, Oxon.

His parents were Andrew and Mary Norris ( nee Wall).
In 1861 Andrew was the Railway Policeman at Steeple Clayton Station.

Andrew Albert was 8 years old here and that was the last proper account of him.

I believe it is his uncle William (Andrews Brother) married Sarah (Rendell)in 1846
and went to New Lenox, Illinois. Their first son Albert is 4 years old in 1850 census.

Their is only one Andrew Albert Norris to marry in England, that is in Totnes,
March 1881, but there is no  Bride on that reference.

                     Lesanne.   Cheesy   Fanx.

Hi Lesanne!  Think "my people" probably knew "your people" in in Steeple Claydon  --  my King family were long time residents there from about 1830's on......

Don't know what I have found that you and Annie have not already covered....nothing "jumps" as far as Andrew Albert in US in Illinois or elsewhere  --  but found some tidbits which may provide some clues.....hopefully they are NEW tidbits that will help you progress:

Death Record for Andrew Albert Norris d. @ 47 <18544> Mar Qtr 1901 Reading Berkshire

Albert A. Norris 34 <1854> aboard "Britannic" Liverpool to NYC Arr Jun 1, 1888   Not sure if he is Eng or US origin   No other "Norris" on board that sailing

Found parents Andrew & Mary in 1881 @ 36 East Str.             St. George Martyr, London with other children but no Andrew

Found Father's Brother William and wife Sarah, dau Elizabeth (no other children at home at this time) in 1880 Marion, Illinois.  William is a miner.

1881 Thomas J.T. Norris b. Islip, Oxford with wife Elizabeth and sons Arthur T and James A at 45 Elgin Terrace,  Paddington, London    Related to Andrew the Father??

1870 US Census  Albert Norris 20 b. in England living in Westminster, Worcester, Mass.  with Calvin Norris b. in Vermont about 70 years old.  No explanation on the relationship.

I checked under "Albert" b. 1852-54  as well as "Andrew"  thinking Andrew might his middle name since his father was Andrew too.

Let me know if anything of interest to your inquiry.

Regards,
Kathy

Hi Kathy,
You picked up Andrew Albert's death 1901 mar. Pre census, I reckon he must of left a widow to the 1901 census..... Huh

There is a marriage.. in Totnes 1881 but no bride .... Huh ... have checked out the other couple.....  Sad

Andrew Albert born Islip Oxon 1852.
He could be my great great grandaddy or his son ..... Huh

William is Andrew's ( b 1822) brother.... Andrew Albert's uncle.  Roll Eyes

Haven't found anything that would lead me to Utah for either Martin  --  but you never know.....  and this marriage is 2 years after 2 children born.....so hope not

I thought JNO maybe was John but couldn't figure out why anyone would abbreviate a four letter name to 3??
