Father's Birth Name
« on: Wednesday 23 June 04 20:48 BST (UK) »

I am in a bit of a dilema.
I'm trying to find my father's birth name.  He was adopted when he was a baby.
I've been told that he was born in Suffolk, but do not know a town.  I have written to the Family Record Centre in London and they say that my father is the only one that can get his birth name released.  That would be a bit difficult as he passed away last year.
I have had a look at 1837online but it got way too expensive looking up all the births in 1941 to see if who were born in Suffolk in the quarter he was born.  Sort of like looking for a needle in a haystack.
I have been able to trace his adopted family back to the 1700's and would love to be able to the same for his birth family.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Paula
