Desperately seeking the marriage of HUNT and NETHERCLIFT
« on: Wednesday 11 May 05 20:19 UTC (UK) »

Hi All

I cannot seem to find the marriage of Edward HUNT to Florence Ethel NETHERCLIFT (or NETHERCLIFF or NETHERCLIFFE).  Florence was born 1899 at Jubiliee Cottage, Sandhurst.  Do not know where Edward was born.  They emigrated to Windsor in Essex County, Ontario Canada by 1918.  Edward died over there and she came back around 1936 as son Earl Albert HUNT (b1919, Windsor, Essex County, Ontario, Canada) joined the RAF in the UK and ended up marrying in South Africa, after the war.  Florence's parents were Henry George N and Alice Annie Peppercorn.  The Netherclifts are funny as they also use DRAYCOTT because of earlier ancestors and either double barrelled both ways or either N or D for surname.  Any help appreciated as not been able to find anything.

Many thanks

John Rowley

Greetings John Rowley:

My grandfather's brother was Edward Hunt, born Dec. 31, 1881 in East Hendred, Berks. He disappears from history as a young man. Only rumors surround his whereabouts. Did he die in the trenches in WW1? Did he emigrate? We dunno. I think it possible he MIGHT be your Edward Hunt. The date could fit. Many men married much younger women. Interestingly, East Hendred is in the same neck of the woods as Draycot, Berks., which could bear some relationship to your DraycoTT ancestors, n'est-ce pas? If my Edward is, indeed, your Edward, then I can extend knowledge of his ancestry back to the late 1600s. Please consult my on-line family tree at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hendred/tree.htm. I look forward to hearing from you. Warm welcomes given to all cousins, distant or otherwise.
