Thomas Walker/ Eliza Condie: Marriage 1870-78? Middlesex/ London?
« on: Thursday 19 January 12 21:34 GMT (UK) »

My ancesters were married, probably in London between these years, maybe in London, Middlesex: Both are registered on the Census as birth in Camden London. They lived briefly in Sothwark in / around 1878/9 by which time they were married. So they moved briefly across the river. However, by the 1890S were living in Camden. Islington. Despite a check through the records, I have not been able to locate a marriage. If anyone has come across this, it would be very helpful. Thank you Steve

Hi

Would you be a little more specific as to the exact couple you are looking for?
Saves picking up the wrong couple.

Ages. census ref?

Thanks

From the census I can see that Thomas was born approx 1852 and Eliza 1856: Birth place is given as 'Camden Town'.

Thank you for any help given

Thos Walker 29 Camden Tn Middx, Eliza 25 Camden TN Middx, Thos 2 Peckham  Eliza 1Peckham

possible baptism

Eliza Condie St Saviour Bapt 8 Dec 1861 born 5/7/1861
Mother Elizabeth  Father James Condie occ Bookbinder
abode Worcester Street

not too sure about this one Undecided (1871c Thomas with parents occ. cigar sorter & bundler)

Thomas Walker Bapt 18 Jan 1852 Bethnal Green St Matthias
Father George Charles Walker occ Weaver Mother Ann

Many thanks Rosie and Ladyhawke

Yes this is the Census: Unfortunately this is all I have.

I did track down the baptisms;

Elizabeth Marion, born 29/08/1879 to Thomas and Elizabeth 4 Great Orchard Road. The Baptism was in St Giles, Camberwell 10/07/1881 together with Rosina Beatrice birth 1881

In 1895 Great Orchard Road becamme Mazzard Road

Elizabeth Marion's birth certificate gives the address as 40? Stafford Street, Peckham, 30/09/1879

An earlier son, Thomas born 02/05/1878, again, Great Orchard Row, Camberwell: Mother Elizabeth formerly Condie: Father Thomas, Labourer.

Many thanks again for all your help

By 1901, the family were in 76 De Beauvoir Crescent in Hackney

No sign of the marriage from me either but I notice she is calling herself Elizabeth on the birth registrations and in 1901.  Smiley
