I am having a great deal of problems with the Mitchell family
George William Mitchell and Eliza Darby married 1865, they had various children but in 1882/1883 up pops an Ann Charlotte supposedly born of this couple. Ann married in 1902 to George Henry Pickers Poplar, she states she is 21and father George William Mitchell is shown as "deceased"
I have been unable to find Ann or her father on any census
Her address upon marriage is 8 Hale St , this is where one of her witnesses gives as her address but is no relation, can't find a baptism for her either, all her other siblings were baptised.
February 1911 I find Charlotte Pickers aged 27 George aged 38, Ethel aged 7 and George aged 5 on a passenger list to Australia
This whole family seem to evade the census man when he cometh
Any help much appreciated

Mitchell, Ann Charlotte
So, purchasing the birth certificate would give you parents names!
BUT, when a young lady states her father is deceased it SOMETIMES is a way of covering up an illegitimate birth!
And, London Metropolitan Archives has this baptism in Poplar:
Baptism 7 Jul 1882, Birth 25 June 1882
Ann daughter of Ann Mitchell, Domestic Servant
No father named!
The birth certificate really would help here!

There is a death in Qld 17.1.1961 for
Ann Charlotte Pickers
mother Elizabeth DARBY
father ARTHUR JOHN Mitchell.
Something not quite adding up here.

there is another groom Alfred Wells,
2 brides Eliza Elizabeth Darley and Elizabeth Cole

That is interesting as Arthur John Mitchell is a witness to her marriage even though George William Mitchell is shown as her father, occ engine driver which is correct from baptisms, strange isn't it
I also beleive that Eliza Darby was really Elizabeth, the plot deepens
Ann Charlotte Pickers died in Australia
What is qld please ?

I do have a marriage cert for George William Mitchell to Eliza Elizabeth Darby, I tied this in with the 1871 where Eliza is living with Ann C Darby, I find it quite strange Charles Henry born circa 1875, 9he lied about his age) is not shown as ever living with George or Eliza as far as I can see.
Eliza I have never found since 1871 census, only on baptisms, what a mix up ??

I've just found George Henry Pickers in Electoral Rolls.
Will have to dig a bit deeper as Charlotte is in same suburb but not living with him.

1949 they are together at 190 Breakfast Rd Fortitude Valley Brisbane.
In 1954 G Hy is with Lorna Clare & Gretta (clerk) at the same address.
Ann Charlotte at 3 Durong St same area.
1958 he's with Laura, no Gretta same address
Charlotte at her address.
Another family mystery for you
Sorry forgot to add 1913 census they were together in the suburb of Herbert in Townsville Qld.
