Harpenden burial HADLOW
« on: Friday 13 May 05 16:01 BST (UK) »

Hello searchers,

Would be grateful to know where a burial or cremation may have taken place during October/November 1945.

Was the churchyard of St Nicholas parish church available at around that date?

The address of deceased, Kate Anne HADLOW 93 yrs was given as 19 Batford Road. Harpenden.  Others in family were of the name GOULD.

thank you for your help

Jean M

Jean

It might be worth contacting the parish to find out.  The parish of St Nicholas has its own website.

Jean

I feel sure that St Nicholas churchyard must have been open to burials in 1945, because I am almost certain that a cousin of mine was buried there a few years ago.

Best Wishes

Hello again Rick

I have left a brief email message/request at the Office of St Nicholas Church;  their records for that date may be in their care rather than on film at the local studies or County Archive.

Let you know what they say....hope they open their mailbox pronto too!!

Thank you again Jean M

Hello Rick,

The parish office at St Nicholas, Harpenden did try to find an entry for the burial of Kate HADLOW, but without success.  The search continues.

You could try writing to:
The Superintendent
St Albans City Cemetery
Hatfield Road
St Albans
Herts.

I believe that they also cover cemeteries in Harpenden & they are very helpful people.
