Maybe that is not the correct family on the 1891 census as the ages of John and Alice are way out. John or Frances would have been 41 years old and Alice 47.

Starting to think that myself.

By the way..... what happened to David James??

I have just found a death in 1885 for a David Silvester aged 3 years in Stepney. Also a death for an Alice Silvester in 1896 aged 52 years in Stepney.  Still trying to find what happened to Francis Frederick.

Yes I wondered about that death in 1884 for Francis. It could be him.

I do think the three children on the 1891 census are the children of Francis and Alice but the parents have me a little puzzled. If Alice married again she would have a different surname unless she married another Silvester or maybe they were not married.

Still not sure Pauline.  So still digging.

1891 has this that might be Martha..

1891 Census England London Battersea West Battersea
RG12/429/18/24
23 Ford's Place

In the household of William O SILVESTER aged 29 a Cooper of London City

M SILVESTER Niece Unmarr 17 Laundress Wash London St George in East

Now going back, Francis F's parents were Thomas and Mary Ann ( or sometimes just Ann ). Thomas was a Cooper.

1871 Census shows that Thomas and Mary Ann SILVESTER have a son William born about 1860.

Baptism records show a William Owen SILVESTER to a Thomas and Mary Ann. Thomas was a Cooper.

They also had a son John born about 1843.  He is with the family on the 1851 and 1861  Census.

Have just traced John Felix SILVESTER brother of Francis Frederick SILVESTER  through his baptism, 2 marriages and all census ... and it's not the man with Alice SILVESTER in 1891.

Gosh Karenlee you have been busy.

Mary Ann Driesen and Thomas Silvester were my GGGrandparents. They had twelve children.

They had John Felix in 1843. He married Jane Whalesby in 1862 and then Matilda Ann Graveley in 1878. John Felix died in 1916 and Matilda in 1928. I have them in all the census.

William Owen was born 1862. He married Eliza Kate Lampard in 1885. William Owen died in 1923. I have them on the 1891 and 1901 census.

I have no idea who John Silvester was. He was born in Wapping, London and I cannot think of any others in the family who lived in Wapping. I think this one may remain a mystery.

Many thanks for all the trouble you have gone to looking up information for me.
I do appreciate it.

Pauline
