Chalmers/Chambers in Ayrshire - DNA anyone?
« on: Friday 13 May 05 20:10 BST (UK) »

I just sent my father's DNA samples to FamilyTreeDNA for the Chambers/Chalmers DNA Project and the Scottish Clans DNA Project. My Chalmers grandfather was born in St Quivox, and his family also shows up in Newton-on-Ayr, Girvan, and the city of Ayr, all in Ayrshire. The family does show up in records as Chambers, Chamers, and Chalmers. My second great-grandfather has been rather elusive, so I haven't been able to find his birth or death records and his parents' names. I'm hoping for some DNA matches while I continue to pursue traditional genealogical research. I hope other Chalmers will join the DNA study. For more info, go to www.familytreedna.com and search for Chalmers/Chambers. Thanks.
