Hello,
I am looking for the following family in 1841:
Father Christopher Capstick b. 1805 Mother Alice (nee Thornbeck) b. 1802 Children Mary Anne, Alice, Jonathan, Frances, Agnes, Joseph, William
Children are all christened in Casterton, Kirkby Lonsdale (acc. to IGI).
There are several Capstick families in Westmorland during this time, but I haven't figured out how they are all related. This is the one I'm most interested in, but if you come across others and feel like writing them down I won't complain!
By 1851 this family is in Canada, so no need to look them up after 1841.
Thanks a million - I know the 1841 is hard work!

Thanks Kaye! This is great. Can you just clarify something for me? I'm not that familiar with the layout of the 1841 and, not being from England myself, I sometimes have difficulty with place names.
You say...
township Casterton RD Kirkby Lonsdale ED 5 P1 Gale Garth George Capstick 65 Farmer Margaret " 60 Thomas 25 Arthur 20 Henry 18 Margaret Middleton 15 FS none of the house hold born here
P13 Folio 9 (a) Beethside ( I think) Christopher Capstick 35 Ag Lab Alice " 35 Mary 13 Alice 11 Jonathan 9 Fanny 7 Agnes 4 Joseph 2 William 6 mths all born in the parish...
If I understand correctly, these families are both in the parish of Kirkby Lonsdale, and Gale Garth and Beethside are names of houses? or villages?
I would love to have the other Capsticks, if it's not too much trouble. Also any BMDs you have - again, only if its not a big deal.
Thanks so much for your time,
MJP

Greetings MJP, Kirkby Lonsdale is the parish and the name of the Registrar's District. They were in the township of Casterton. Now the layout of the 41....the first column is headed Place so could be a street.. village.. small town.. what ever. I have yet to get back to the census for the others I saw. The BMDs I found were from BTs of Crosthwaite and Lyth on the FHL film 97366
