original document  part 17
any significance in the above part 17 deaf & dumb etc. being marked its a full page and its the only one with a mark

 Huh I have no idea whether it has any significance.
Yet it doesn't look like a '1' ... rather just a mark made afterwards in the course of checking the census returns.

thanks for your reply this one is giving me the run around as I can find no birth or death just his marriage  and a empty burial plot in Maryport just grasping at any thing out of the ordinary that might solve the puzzle
