          Cheesy  Please could you lookup Joseph (b1805) and Charlotte COX, 

                         I just can't find them in '61 or '71 census.   Undecided

               I found Joseph, a widow in Lambeth '81, after hours of searching.

    Huh Gone all over trying to find anything else on Emily and William.

  Tried all Stoney, Sidney, and Cox. In Hertford, Lambeth, Essex.
         
           Not even a close birth record.

1861 has Charles A P Sidney, age 77, Gentleman
Church House, West Hanningfield with wife and 5 unmarried daughters.

1851 has same Charles A P Sidney with Robert, age 17, David, age 20  etc.


Cox family, in nearby Stock, in 1815, has Mary Ann, age 19

Just a thought  ............

                   Do you think that William Stoney and/or Sidney are one and the same?

                           Both born same year and place?  Emily Cox / Sidney could be 2 people
                as it is a common name in the family.
                 
                     There are so many doubts with this '71. Sussex/Essex, birthdates, names.

                I suppose I need to get my eyes on the originals, to compare with the other
               lists of "our oldies" in Essex. Then they go down to Lambeth and over to Berks,
              where we pick up the rest and puddle off to Wilts, Oxon.

             Yep, I must agree with Sidney after the post from cep as well.

         William (b1843) Stock) is my direct line, William Sidney or Stoney or even Henry,
            argh !! needs to be Cox.

            I've got him in '51 aged 8.     He married by '71 but not home on census,
                                                                                                 so where?
              By '81 Widowed with 3 children. Abingdon, Berks.

I looked at the census page on Ancestry.
I had difficulty accepting Stoney, but Sidney is a real possibility.

                      Looks straight out of Pride and Predjudice for the Sidney's, hey.

                      Shall try to find "our bit" of the Sidney's, '41 or even '51 would be good!
                     Just need the parents for William Sidney in Herts  ('54).
                            Emily Sidney in Essex  ('51) and Emily Cox in Wilts ('62).  Grin

Stourton is in Wiltshire. The 1871 census entries for mother and daughter were correct.

           It seems '61 is just no good.  Even my William just dissappearred...

               This will be the umpteenth family Cox I've traced through the past 20 years.

              I always get stuck on William. My oldest son is William 7th on the Norris line. Roll Eyes

I'm not sure which William you mean? William Sidney born circa 1854 Broxbourne is with his grandfather Joseph Cox on both the 1861 and 1871 censuses.

          Joseph (1805) and Charlotte (1810)
                     Cox family.

                    Evaporated in '61 ....  not at home '71.
