Hi can anyone help please???
I have been finding it very hard to find the date of death/burial for William Vickers. The last entry i have for him was on the 1861 Staffordshire census were he was living in Parkfields, Ettingshall, he was 50 years old at the time and living with his wife Mary Ann Vickers. I found her on the 1871 census, she was down as a widow and living at New Village, Ettingshall.
Any help would be much appriciated
Alison

Hi Alison,
I've had a look on Ancestry and have found the deaths of 2 William Vickers in the 1860's, I have no idea where Ettingshall is in relation to where these 2 are, if either look at all promising I can send you the details so you can order the certificate.

Hi,
Thanks for looking for me, i have already tryed them 2 though, the Walsall one was an infant death and a friend wrote to Dudley about the other possibility, but they've just replied saying that, following a recent major fire, all certificates prior to 1930 have been removed to another (inaccessible) location, so as you can see im VERY stuck.

Hi I have just read your post. With regard to the fire at Dudley registry office all enquiries are now processed at Stourbridge from 1930 onward.
Stourbridge Office Crown Lane, Crown Centre, Stourbridge, West Midlands DY8 1YA Phone / minicom / textphone: 01384 815385 E-mail: StourbridgeRegOffice.legal@dudley.gov.uk I have found them to be very helpful.
Prior to this I'm afraid its the ONS in Southport Hope this helps Carol

No problem.
Just read through your names and noticed you had Ward listed.
You have'nt got a Thomas (1811-1876) who moved down to the worcester area about 1850 he married a Mary ? have you

Hi carol
I haven't got back that far yet, the earliest i have is Thomas Ward born 1861 Highbridge, staffordshire, he moved to Normanton, west Yorkshire and raised a family there. I don't know who his parents were yet.
